THE Aklan Provincial Health Office (PHO) has registered 302 cases of dengue this year and noted that it is increasing.

Dr. Cornelio Cuachon said two of the victims had died.

The data was based on the cases recorded from January 1 to June 27 as validated by the Aklan Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance and Response Unit.

"Most of the victims were recorded to be one year old to 10 years old," Cuachon said.

He added that each of the 17 municipal health centers in the province were already alerted against dengue.

Majority of the cases came from Kalibo, followed by the towns of Numancia, Makato Banga, New Washington and Malay towns.

"We remind the local government unit to continue the practice of 4S in their respective areas, which are search and destroy, self-protection measures, seek early consultation and say yes to fogging only during outbreaks," Cuachon said. (Jun N. Aguirre/SunStar Philippines)
