Hotels in Kalibo almost full

HOTELS, inns and pension houses in Kalibo, Aklan are now 80 percent full with the town celebrating the Sto. Nino Ati-atihan Festival, an official said.

Gerwin Garcia, president of the Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-atihan Accommodations Association, said there are around 70 establishments offering accommodation for visitors.

The Ati-atihan celebration starts Thursday night, January 9, 2020, with the Miss Kalibo At-atihan pageant. The celebration will culminate with a street dancing and revelry on January 16 to 19.

"We anticipate more local tourists and balikbayans arriving due to series of alumni homecoming of different schools here," said Garcia.

Among the highlights of the festival are a motor show on January 11 to 12, Department of Education (DepEd Sinaot sa Calle) on January 15, Kapuso Night and higante contest on January 16, Sadsad Ati-atihan contest on January 18, and pilgrims mass and procession on January 19. (SunStar Philippines)
