THE Iloilo City Government Dog Pound and Shelter will soon open as safe haven for stray dogs in the metropolis at the facility at Calahunan Sanitary Landfill in Mandurriao.

It will ensure proper care of pets prior to adoption by interested individuals.

Mayor Jerry Treñas initiated the project to provide a secured place for stray dogs while these are being taken cared of and prepared for adoption to responsible pet owners.

Technical Institute of Iloilo City (TIIC) Molo Campus staff and students constructed the cages, walls, and roofing, as well as beautification and landscaping works, as part of their on-the-job training.

With the initiative, abandoned dogs roaming around public places will be gathered and sheltered. (PR)
