Kalibo council opens tricycle franchise renewal using drop box

KALIBO, Aklan -- The Municipal Council of Kalibo has opened the renewal of franchise of tricycles as public transport through a drop box.

Kalibo Vice Mayor Cynthia Dela Cruz said they considered using the drop box renewal as one of their measures to fight the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

"The local government unit of Kalibo, through the Office of the Sangguniang Bayan (LGU-OSB), is presently following strict health protocols due to the pandemic brought about by the threats of Covid-19. As such, the LGU-OSB adopts measures that would ensure health and safety of the employees and its clients while able to deliver basic services," Dela Cruz said.

Dela Cruz said a drop box has been placed in the Municipal Council office, where the franchise operator could place their documents. The operator will be informed through a text message when the application is being processed.

"Once they will be informed that the office had reviewed their application for renewal and or transfer and find them eligible for such. At times, they will be asked to bring lacking documents next time they come," she added.

The franchise operator will then be asked to pay the fees at the Provincial Treasurer's Office. The applicant will then place the receipt in the drop box provided.

"We will then inform the operator of the scheduled seminar to be done online," said Dela Cruz. (SunStar Philippines)
