THE Iloilo City Sports Academy (ICSA) is accepting children aged five to 15 for free training on various sporting disciplines in time for school break.

Mayor Jerry Treñas initiated the program under the supervision of Iloilo City Sports Development Division (ICSDD).

Treñas said the initiative gives opportunity to those who cannot afford to enroll in sports they want and improve their skills, excel in their field of expertise, stay healthy, and gain from overall benefits of sports.

He added the endeavor also serves as training ground for promising athletes with potentials to be assessed if they can later on jump to national tournaments.

Kids must be city residents with good health conditions and with parent’s consent.

An average of 70 enrollees in each sport category will be trained.

These include Volleyball, Badminton, Sepak Takraw, Arnis and Chess at YMCA Gym; Football at La Paz Plaza Football Field; Lawn Tennis at La Paz Plaza Tennis Court; Athletics at Jalandoni Memorial National High School, Lapuz; and Boxing and Wushu at Cage Boxing Gym, Brgy. San Rafael, Mandurriao.

City Hall has tapped certified trainers and coaches to teach the children.

Those interested to join may inquire through ICSDD Facebook page. (PR)
