ILOILO City Mayor Jerry Treñas has postponed the hosting of big events until March.

He earlier called off the staging of Paraw Regatta Festival, the city's sailing festivity initially set on February 23 to March 1.

The declaration was made as the metropolis is implementing safety measures against the spread of Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) after due consultation with health officials and organizers.

"There will be no big events for the safety of residents and children, and especially those susceptible. I hope people will understand, we're doing this as precautionary measure," he said. (PR)
