OCD-Western Visayas turns over 100 sacks of rice to Guimaras

THE Office of Civil Defensen (OCD)-Western Visayas has turned over 100 sacks of National Food Authority (NFA) rice to the Province of Guimaras on June 4, 2021.

OCD-Western Visayas information officer Cindy Ferrer said the agency has seen the need of the Provincial Government of Guimaras for relief assistance amid the surge of Covid-19 cases in the province.

Ferrer said it is the mandate of the OCD to provide relief assistance during the time of emergencies.

Governor Samuel Gumarin has extended gratitude to OCD-Western Visayas Director Roberto Nuñez for the relief assistance.

These sacks of rice will augment the Provincial Government's relief drive, according to the governor.

"Nagapasalamat gid kita sa Office of Civil Defense, kay Director Nuñez, sa ginhatag nga bulig sa probinsiya sang Guimaras. During disasters, nakahanda gid pirme ang OCD nga magbulig sa Probinsiya sang Guimaras. Dako ini nga bulig sa away naton subong sa Covid-19 pandemic," Gumarin said.

Several communities in the province were put on lockdown as Guimaras continues to record an increase in the number of infections.

As of June 4, 2021, Guimaras has 97 active cases of Covid-19 from the 593 total number of cases recorded in the island.

The Municipality of Buenavista has the highest number of active cases with 45, followed by Jordan with 33, the town of Sibunag has 15, while Nueva Valencia and San Lorenzo have two active cases of Covid-19, respectively. (PR)
