Provincial Government to conduct tree planting in Maasin

THE Iloilo Provincial Government will conduct a tree planting activity in Barangay Daja in Maasin town on July 7.

The program, dubbed “Action for Re-greening and Transformation for Climate Change Adaption Year 8,” is in line with the celebration of the Philippine Arbor Day.

The activity will open with a caravan around 6:30 a.m. There will also be a film showing after the caravan, as well as a discussion about plastic pollution.

Maasin Mayor Mariano Malones Sr., Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Western Visayas Director Jim Sampulna, third district Representative Arthur Defensor Jr., and Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. are expected to give speeches.

Ten thousand assorted seedlings will be planted.

Governor Defensor said the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, Department of Agriculture, local government units, non-governmental Boy Scouts of the Philippines, and other sectors will also participate in the program.
