2 of 3 NBP escapees shot dead

TWO of the three persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) who bolted the maximum security compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) were killed during a manhunt operation Monday, January 17, 2022.

Bureau of Corrections (Bucor) spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag identified the fatalities as Pacifico Villaruz Adlawan and Arwin Villeza Bio.

The two were spotted by authorities in a creek near the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway.

They allegedly fought it out with the police, prompting the authorities to retaliate, resulting in the PDLs' death.

Recovered from Adlawan were 9mm pistol with live bullets.

Chaclag said several police operatives were wounded in the encounter.

He said Bucor and police personnel are continuously hunting another escapee, Drakilou Falcon.

The three PDLs escaped the detention facility around 1 a.m. of January 17.

Bio, 35, was convicted for murder and attempted murder; Falcon, 34, was convicted for robbery with homicide and has a pending murder case, while Adlawan, 49, was serving a sentence for frustrated murder and illegal drug use and has a pending homicide case.
