4 ASG men killed in shootout in Basilan

FOUR suspected Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members were killed after engaging policemen in a gunfight in Lamitan City, Basilan on Thursday, July 15, 2021.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Guillermo Eleazar said on Friday, July 16, that Special Action Force troopers and members of other police units were serving arrest warrants against Baradi Ganie, Remie Ganie, Dawam Morales and Mando Morales in Barangay Balobo when the suspects fired at the cops.

The suspects were wanted for the crimes of murder, kidnapping and carnapping.

Killed during the firefight were Baradi, Ganie, Mando Morales and a certain Jack Akalul.

Dawam Morales was arrested.

Authorities recovered one KG9 caliber 9mm submachine pistol, one cal. 45 pistol, a shotgun, one cal. 30, and numerous fired cartridges of different calibers at the encounter site.
