A FORMER police officer who had been declared absent without leave (Awol) was killed in a drug bust Thursday dawn, February 14, in Pulilan, Bulacan.

Former Police officer 3 Rowell Reynon allegedly drew his gun and shot at the operatives after he sensed that he was dealing with policemen.

Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna, Bulacan Provincial Police Office director, said the operation was conducted in Barangay Lumbac in Pulilan, Bulacan around 4 a.m. on February 14.

“Said operation turned into a shooting encounter shortly after the suspect, who sold one transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu in exchange for 500 pesos to undercover poseur buyer but sensed that it was planned operation so he suddenly drew his concealed handgun and fired at the operatives which dictates the lawmen to defend the aggression and able to retaliate that resulted to the neutralization of the suspect,” said Bersaluna.

Bersaluna said Reynon was dismissed from police service in 2010 after being involved in illegal drugs transactions.

He said Reynon was a former member of the so-called Alabang Boys, a “top level” drug group of wealthy personalities. (SunStar Philippines)
