AUTHORITIES arrested Monday afternoon, April 15, the intelligence unit head of the Baguio City police office for extortion.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Oscar Albayalde identified the arrested suspect as Lieutenant Colonel Allan Docygen.

He said Docygen was nabbed by joint elements of the PNP Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF) and intelligence group in an entrapment operation in front of Daddy’s Restaurant in Barangay Azco, Baguio City around 2:30 p.m.

Docygen received a total of P50,000 during the operation.

Albayalde said the operation stemmed from a report from an unknown caller that Docygen was demanding for P200,000 in exchange for the release of a person who was nabbed for robbery.

The complainant also said that Docygen threatened to kill the arrested robbery suspect.

The complainant said P47,000 was handed to Docygen on April 12 as initial payment, and the agreement was the remaining balance will be given on April 15. The amount, however, was reduced to P50,000.

Albayalde said Docygen is now under the CITF custody and appropriate charges will be filed against him. (SunStar Philippines)
