CA justice named Comelec commissioner

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has tapped Court of Appeals Associate Justice Socorro Inting as commissioner of the Commission on Elections.

Inting's appointment paper, which was released by Malacañang on Thursday, April 19, was signed by the President on Tuesday, April 17.

Replacing former Comelec Commissioner Arthur Lim, she will serve a term expiring on February 2, 2025.

Inting, who hails from Davao City, finished her law degree and graduated cum laude from the Ateneo de Davao University in 1980.

Prior to her new appointment, she served as presiding judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 4 in Manila for more than nine years and presiding judge of the Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 6 in Makati for almost three years.

She also beame a prosecutor for six years and a public attorney for seven years. She was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 2009. (Ruth Abbey Gita/SunStar Philippines)
