Cardinal Advincula tests positive for Covid-19

MANILA Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula on Friday, September 17, 2021, tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In a statement, the Archdiocese of Manila announced that Advincula was experiencing mild symptoms.

"Aside from a slight fever, he does not feel any other symptoms," said Manila Archdiocese Chancellor Fr. Reginald Malicdem.

"He is on quarantine, observing strict protocols. Doctors are also monitoring his condition," he added.

The priest called on the faithful to pray for the 69-year old prelate.

"We appeal for your prayers for His Eminence and for all those who are sick with Covid 19," said Malicdem.

Aside from Advincula, 13 other Filipino bishops and archbishops had contracted the coronavirus, including Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Manila Apostolic Administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo and Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma. (HDT / SunStar Philippines)
