Communist leader arrested in Laguna

AUTHORITIES arrested on Tuesday evening, September 17, an alleged communist terrorist leader in San Pedro City in Laguna.

A report from the Laguna Provincial Police Office said Antonia Setias Dizon, 60, was arrested during the service of a search warrant for illegal firearms in her residence in St. Villa Olympia Village in Barangay Rosario.

The operation took place around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday. Seized during the operation were assorted firearms and ammunitions.

Dizon is also the subject of an arrest warrant issued by acting Executive Judge Lou Nueva of Regional Trial Court Branch 7, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur, for the crime of murder.

Police said Dizon serves as the secretary of the National Organizing Department (NOD) of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP)-National Democratic Front (NDF)-New People’s Army (NPA), replacing Rafael Baylosis and Adelberto Silva.

Silva and Baylosis, who were both NDF consultants, were arrested in Sta. Cruz, Laguna and Quezon City, respectively. (SunStar Philippines)
