MAYOR Carlwyn Baldo of Daraga, Albay, a primary suspect in the killing of Ako-Bicol Party-list representative Rodel Batocabe, was arrested Tuesday, January 22, after police found unlicensed guns in his residence.

Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) director, said Baldo was arrested around 2 p.m. and brought to the CIDG regional office in Bicol for proper documentation and disposition.

He will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

CIDG operatives served two search warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court of Albay over the alleged illegal possession of firearms.

Seized during the operation were two caliber 45 firearms, 16 rounds of ammunition for the said firearms, one ammunition for grenade launcher, one magazine for Uzi, one ammunition for M16 and an Isuzu Alterra.

Corpus said the recovered firearms lacked the necessary documentation.

Baldo has been charged with murder and multiple frustrated murder over the killing of Batocabe on December 22 in Daraga. He has denied the charges. (SunStar Philippines)
