SOME 300 stranded overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) may soon be able to return to their employers in China as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is already set to charter a flight for them.

In a virtual press briefing on Friday, October 23, 2020, International Labor Affairs Bureau (ILAB) Director Alice Visperas said they are already coordinating for a charter flight for some 300 English teachers within October 2020.

"We are already in coordination to help the returning workers have a chartered flight and enable them to return to China," said Visperas.

In a separate interview, the labor official said the plane fare shall be shouldered by the OFWs.

"We just helped them get a good rate from Philippine Airlines," said Visperas.

In an online press briefing last Monday, October 19, the United China OFWs called on the government to help them return to work in China as soon as possible.

This as the group claimed that the amount for chartering flights from the Philippines to China has supposedly soared to P200,000 from the previous P100,000. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
