LEADERS of the House of Representatives will meet with the members of the Bangsomoro Transition Commission on Tuesday, May 22 to discuss the conflicting provisions in the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).

"Bukas maguusap pa kami with BPC and then tignan namin kung yung mga niraise na concerns kung pa pano iaaddress. kinakailangang kasama rin sila para di na masyado maging problema sa plenary," House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez said in a press conference on Monday, May 21 following the all-party caucus held at the House of Representatives.

Alvarez said that after the meeting with the members of the BTC, they will hold a caucus anew come Tuesday or Wednesday.

Alvarez said he will ask President Rodrigo Duterte to certify the bill as urgent so that the House can pass it by May 30.

"Basta tapusin namin yan bago kami magbreak (We will pass this before our break)," he said.

Three committees at the House of Representatives namely House committee on Muslim affairs, special committee on peace, unity and reconciliation and committee on local government recently approved the House Bill 6475 without any amendments.

The said bill, filed by Alvarez is the same BBL version proposed by the BTC.

The BBL seeks for the abolition of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and the creation of a Bangsamoro region. (SunStar Philippines)
