Jonel Nuezca sentenced to life imprisonment

A COURT has convicted former policeman Jonel Nuezca in the double murder of a mother and son in Tarlac last December 2020, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon Director Valeriano de Leon said Thursday, August 26, 2021.

De Leon said the Tarlac Regional Trial Court issued its decision on Thursday morning, sentencing Nuezca to life imprisonment.

Nuezca was also ordered to pay the heirs of Sonia Gregorio the total amount of P476,280 and the heirs of Frank Anthony Gregorio P476,280.

Nuezca shot dead the Gregorios in a point blank range following a heated argument over a right-of-way issue in Barangay Cabayaoasan in Paniqui town, Tarlac on December 20, 2020.

He was assigned at the Parañaque City Crime Laboratory when the incident happened.

He was dismissed from the service in January 2021 for grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer. (SunStar Philippines)
