New infections exceed 6,000 again

AFTER two consecutive days of less than 5,000 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed more than 6,000 infections Thursday, May 13, 2021.

The DOH case bulletin listed 6,385 new cases, which pushed the number of active cases higher to 55,260 and the cumulative case count to 1,124,724.

The daily positivity rate increased to 13.6 percent after two straight days of less than 13 percent. Testing output improved to 44,345 as of May 11.

There were 107 additional mortalities, raising the death toll to 18,821. The case fatality rate remained at 1.67 percent.
