P18M cocaine seized from South African in Clark airport

AUTHORITIES seized on Tuesday evening, May 23, 2023, over P18 million worth of cocaine from an arriving South African at the Clark International Airport in Pampanga.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the arrested suspect as Renaldo Wilfred Oliviera, 48, from Suriname, South Africa.

He arrived at the Clark International Airport via United Arab Emirates flight at 6:31 p.m. Tuesday, May 23.

The PDEA said 3,468 grams of cocaine with an estimated value of P18,380,400 were recovered from Oliviera’s luggage. The illegal drugs were concealed inside the foreigner’s jackets.

The illegal substances were placed in 30 vacuum sealed transparent packs wrapped in mesh cloth and blue carbon paper.

Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect. (SunStar Philippines)
