THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) around 13 kilos of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P90 million, the agency said on Tuesday, February 12.

The illegal substance, with total mass of 13.1 kilos that were packed in large plastic sachets, were concealed in a shipment that was declared as car parts.

A Customs examiner found the contraband inside car mufflers on January 26.

The shipment arrived at the DHL warehouse from West Covina, California, in the United States.

The illegal drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Tuesday.

The PDEA has yet to provide further information on the matter. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo/SunStar Philippines)
