PNP opens new Covid-19 testing lab in Crame

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) opened on Thursday, October 29, 2020, its new molecular laboratory in Camp Crame to be able to expand testing for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among its personnel.

PNP Chief Camilo Cascolan said the Department of Health (DOH) has already issued a license to the PNP Health Service (HS) Molecular Laboratory.

The new facility can accommodate 90 to 150 tests per day. It is hospital-based and is an addition to PNP's clinical testing services for its personnel and frontliners.

Cascolan said they were still waiting for DOH to approve the PNP testing laboratory in Cebu, which has a capacity of 150 to 180 tests per day.

As of Wednesday evening, October 28, 7,097 policemen have been infected with Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. Of this number, 6,523 have recovered and 22 had died while 543 are active cases. (SunStar Philippines)
