AUTHORITIES arrested on Monday, February 3, a female Thai national who tried to slip into the country over P28 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu.

Pakjira Janwong, 27, was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) in an operation conducted by the Naia Inter-agency Drug Interdiction Task Group.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency National Capital Region director Joel Plaza said Janwong arrived at the Naia Terminal 3 at 1:40 a.m. Monday via an AirAsia Zest Flight Z2 288 from Bangkok, Thailand.

Seized from the compartment of her luggage were 4.125 kilograms of white crystalline substance.

"The substance later tested positive for methamphetamine hydrochloride through a field test,” Plaza said.

The seized pieces of evidence were submitted to the PDEA Laboratory Service for qualitative and quantitative examination.

The arrested Thai national will be criminally charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as "The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.” (SunStar Philippines)
