A CONSTRUCTION worker died and another was injured after they were hacked by their co-worker in Sitio Kanangkaan, Barangay General Luna in Toboso, Negros Occidental, on December 18.

Killed was Fidel Devera Jr., 38, of Panlaaan, Dumanjog, Cebu. Injured was Renato Mellorida, 31, of Badiang, Inabanga, Bohol.

Chief Ispector Ariel Pico, town police chief, said both victims were on their way home from a drinking session when suspect, Rocky Enorsoa, 29, of Malaybalay, Bukidnon, attacked them with a bolo.

Devera succumbed to head injuries, while Mellorida sustained minor injuries and was brought to Corazon Locsin Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.

Enorsoa was also wounded.

A week before the incident, the victims and the suspect had a misunderstanding after some of their personal belongings went missing inside the construction site.

“It probably triggered the suspect to commit the crime,” Pico said.

He said Enorsoa was arrested at the house of his relatives in the town, where he was hiding for several hours.

Charges for murder and frustrated murder were filed against Enorsoa.
