100 City police officers subjected to drug tests

IN another act of internal cleansing within the PNP, almost a hundred police officers from the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) were subjected to a surprise drug test yesterday morning.

CCPO Director Joel Doria said the policemen were endorsed by their police station commanders for the drug test.

“If they will test positive in the screening, they will undergo another confirmatory test. By then, if it’s still positive then he will face dismissal from service,” Doria said.

A police officer from the CCPO tested positive in the surprise drug test last Jan. 31 after newly-installed Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Chief Supt. Robert Quenery assumed office.

Doria said that he participated in the drug test together with the city’s 11 police station commanders.

Also included in the drug test were operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and the City Intelligence Branch (CIB).

Doria warned his men against getting involved in the illegal drug trade.

President Rodrigo Duterte, in his visit to Cebu City last week, warned the Philippine National Police (PNP) that a reported drug personality will fall in the anti-drug war. (JOB)
