2 die in highway head-on collision

TWO people died in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a motorcycle along the highway in Zamboanga City, the police reported Thursday.

Senior Inspector Benzar Bairulla, Police Station 3 deputy chief, disclosed the incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. Wednesday at Zone 2 in the village of Cabaluay, east of the city.

Bairulla identified the fatalities as Jayson Juanito, motorcycle driver; and, Ramillano Delos Reyes, back rider.

He said Juanito died instantaneously while Delos Reyes failed to reach the hospital alive.

He said investigation showed that the passenger bus and motorcycle collided head-on after the motorbike allegedly encroached the lane of the bus while travelling on opposite direction.

He said the bus driven by Henry Penticase was bound for Dipolog City coming from the city while the motorcycle was bound to the city proper at the time of the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
