TODAY, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has lowered the height requirement for all applicants to 5 feet, a television report said.

General Francisco Cruz, AFP civil relations officer, said height doesn't matter in today's warfare. What is important is the mental capacity.

He said 5 feet is more advantegous in the Army saying the shorter, the faster.

The AFP also defended that it is not an indication that they are depleted of workforce stating every year application for AFP personnel reaches to 12,000 but only 4,000 granted.

Previous height requirement for Army is 5.2 feet for females and 5.4 feet for males. (Tashuana Alemania/Sunnex)
