68% Dabawenyos know BBL, but only 8.5% has read draft

ABOUT 68 percent of Dabawenyos know about the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), while 8.5 percent have read the draft, a local survey showed.

The survey, conducted by the Ateneo de Davao University, revealed that the top three sources of information regarding the BBL are television, radio and newspapers.

Based on the results, Dabawenyos also showed their diverse views on BBL.

Forty percent say that "if the BBL is passed, it will help in achieving peace in Mindanao," while 42 percent said otherwise, and 18 percent did not know.

The perceptions of Dabawenyos showed a seemingly divided posture taken by the respondents on the issues related to BBL, as 41 percent agreed that when BBL is passed, Mindanao economy will improve, while 41 percent said otherwise.

Thirty-seven percent affirmed that the "BBL is compliant with the 1987 Constitution" while 28 percent did not agree.

Forty-four percent agreed that the BBL should be passed by Congress before President Benigno Aquino III's administration ends, while 38 percent claimed otherwise.

The survey was dubbed as the City Wide Social Survey Series 3. It was conducted last May 11-17.
