MANILA -- Filipino actor/comedian Redford White succumbed to brain cancer Sunday morning, radio reports said. He was 54.

This was confirmed by one of the friends of White (real name: Cipriano Cermeno) in the show business through social networking site Twitter.

"At 6:47 a.m. today (Sunday), my great friend, fellow diver and a wonderful human being known to all as Redford White passed away peacefully," said Apo Hiking Society member Jim Paredes in his Twitter account.

Paredes said the actor "died of complication due to cancer in his lungs and brain."

He described White as "among the most wonderful human beings I have ever known -- generous, kind, light, uncomplicated, funny and loving."

"I was with him yesterday and we had our last hugs. I will miss you 'pre. Love you. Your great spirit has left many sad... I have been expecting this. My only consolation is that his physical suffering has stopped. I will never forget you dear friend. I love you," he added.

White started his career in the show business in the late 1970's and made several movies including "Boni & Klayd" (1981), "No Return No Exchange" (1986), and "The Untouchable Family" (1988), among others.

He also starred in television shows "Daddy Di Do Du" and Kokey.

It is not yet known as to when White will be buried. (LRM/Sunnex)
