A PRO American wakeboard rider will grace the Mini Skim Competition dubbed as "To the Ends Skim Jam", a joint program of the Davao Oriental Boardriding Club and Ride Nature Organization, on February 8 at the Dahican Surf Resort in Mati City, Davao Oriental.

Kirby Leismann, founder of Kirby's School of Wake, an ultimate water sport experience in America, providing fun, safe and professional learning experience for riders of all levels, will spice up the mini skimboarding competition that serves as tryout for the local skimboarders who will represent Davao Region Team for the planned Mindanao Skim Boarding Tour slated in September.

Davao Oriental Boarding Club president Gracie Plata said this will be Leismann's first visit in the country.

"But he will have a stopover in Japan before mag Philippines for an outreach program with skate/snowboard leaders together with Ride Nature Organization,"

Plata said, adding that the American visitor yearns to have fellowship with the locals.

The free-registration event will feature three divisions including beginners, intermediate and advanced.

The winners will receive skimboards courtesy of Zap Skimboards.

The event is also in partnership with the City of Mati and Reefside Surf Co.
