BACOLOD City, a highly urbanized city in Western Visayas is the region’s official entry to the Local Legislative Award in the national category, which will be on March.

Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said Thursday the city was nominated from among the cities in the region to represent for the national award together with the Kabankalan City.

Sayson noted that in 2009, Bacolod was awarded an Excell Award as 2nd runner up “and that it had been automatically endorsed to the LLA for the national level.”

The award is per Memorandum Circular No. 2009-134 given to outstanding Sanggunians (Councils) with exemplary performance from the period July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2009.

“I’m very happy that we were recommended by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional office on said award,” Sayson stressed.

Bacolod’s contenders for the award include Metro Manila, Davao, Cebu, Zamboanga, and among others, said Sayson.

Basis for the award will be the total local legislations of the city.

Sayson said the city’s creation of the New Government Center brings along fame and boon to the economic condition of Bacolod.
