Barangay to install CCTVs

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- An official of Barangay Del Carmen on Tuesday said that the village council here plans to install closed-circuit television (CCTVs) cameras to monitor daily activities in the community.

The barangay, said barangay councilor Jayme Paras, aims to provide a more secure neighborhood for their constituents because its area is composed of different sitios and subdivisions as well.

Paras said that their main goal in putting up CCTVs is to lessen the reported cases of snatching, hold up and robbery in the village.

"We plan to put up CCTVs kasi dito maraming nangyayaring nakawan so siyempre kailangan natin maiwasan yun dahil we care for the welfare of the community," said Paras.

Paras said the funds that will be used will come from Pueblo de Oro, a subdivision located inside Barangay Del Carmen.

Pueblo de Oro will sponsor the CCTVs as a large part of the subdivision covers the barangay and that most accidents and snatching cases happen along the roads of the said subdivision.

The barangay's next project will be the declogging of canals and the construction of canal lids to prevent the spread of dengue-carrying mosquitos. (Marionne I. Cayanan)
