CEBU’s Jade Becaldo will be pairing up with Hachaliah Gilbuena in the first Philippines Super Liga (PSL) beach volleyball tournament set next month at the Mall of Asia (MOA) sand courts in Manila.

Becaldo is a former key player of the University of the Visayas (UV), which won two national Nestea Beach Volleyball national titles. He and University of Southern Philippines (USPF)’s Edward Ybañez recently also made it into the Top 10 of the AVC Beach Tour Samila Open in Thailand.

However, in this tournament, Becaldo will be paired with a different partner in in Gilbuena, who hails from Tagum City and is now based in Cebu, studying in UV.

Both of them are also scheduled to play in the Philippines Hotel Reservation Services (PHRS) Cup in Manila.

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) beach volleyball consultant Eric Lecain said he expects the PSL tournament to help draw more interest in the sport all over the country.

“I hope that the presence of the Cebu team doing well in the tournament can help draw more interest in the sport,” said Lecain.
