THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents have recaptured in Tarlac two South Korean fugitives who had escaped the BI detention last March.

In a statement on Tuesday, Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said the foreign nationals, identified as Park Wangyeol, and Jung Jaeyul, were arrested last Saturday in an apartment unit in Barangay San Pablo, Tarlac City.

Morente said Park and Jung, both 38 years old, went into hiding after escaping the BI detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City last March 6.

One caliber .38 revolver, bullets, fake identification cards and several credit cards in the names of other Korean nationals have been seized from the two.

"I have instructed our deportation unit to immediate arranged their flight back to Korea so they can be tried and punished for their crimes," Morente said.

Morente added that he also ordered the BI warden to assign men who will guard the two 24 hours a day until they are deported.

Park and Jung are alleged of being involved in a gun-for-hire syndicate and swindling activities that victimizes Koreans in the Philippines.

The BI said Park is also a subject of an Interpol red notice due to his alleged involvement in the murder of three Koreans in Pampanga last year. (SunStar Philippines)
