Cafgu shot dead

A MEMBER of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) was shot to death by unidentified men in Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Thursday.

Police identified the fatality as Raul Ugdiman, 27, of Sitio Macapula, Barangay Dolis.

Senior Inspector Roger Pama, deputy chief of Calatrava Municipal Police Station, said that Ugdiman met an accident on his way to the hospital to seek treatment for his gunshot wound.

Pama said Ugdiman was reportedly speeding when he collided with another motorcycle at Crossing Balea, Barangay Laga-an at 10:30 a.m.

“He (Ugdiman) tried to rush himself to a hospital because of his gunshot wound, but he met an accident,” Pama said.

Ugdiman was eventually brought to a hospital, where he was declared dead due to a lone gunshot wound, based on the medical report.

The unidentified victim of the accident sustained minor injuries.

Pama said investigation is ongoing to determine the motive and the perpetrators.

In another development, a drug surrenderer was injured after he was shot by an unidentified gunman inside his house at Crossing Melo, Barangay Marcelo also in Calatrava Thursday night.

Wounded was Roberto Bargayo, 41, a drug personality under the station’s watchlist.

Pama said Bargayo was having dinner at 8:30 p.m. when the gunman arrived and fired at him.

Bargayo sustained a lone gunshot wound in his back and was brought to a hospital.
