Construction of satellite market begins

Sunnexdesk

THE City Government officially began the construction of the satellite market at Mines View Park here following the groundbreaking rites last January 29.

Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. Thursday said the project will involve the construction of a four-storey building at the tourist spot, which will house not only the satellite market but also the barangay hall, multi-purpose hall, day care center, and health center of the barangay.

The mayor said the project is envisioned to solve the vending problem and restore order at the site, hoping to reclaim Mines View’s status as a park and favorite tourist hub.

Mines View has been delisted as a park by the Department of Tourism (DOT) after vendors mushroomed and turned the site into an eyesore.

The mayor said the vendors will be immediately relocated to the satellite market upon completion based on guidelines to be set by the City Government. (Aileen Refuerzo)
