CITY of San Fernando police arrested on Wednesday a Bulgarian national for allegedly skimming an automated teller machine (ATM) of a bank in Barangay San Agustin.

Police identified the suspect as Ivaylo Sashov Galavov who was nabbed while withdrawing cash at an ATM of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) using several fake or cloned ATM cards.

Recovered from Galavov’s possession were six cloned ATM cards, P2,100 cash, a motorcycle, an alien certificate of registration ID bearing the name Ivaylo Sashov Galapov and two Bulgarian IDs.

Appropriate charges are being readied for filing against the suspect and coordination with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) is being done for verification of the suspect’s status as he may be involved in an international syndicate engaged in ATM card fraud.

Last year, a group of foreigners were also arrested for skimming the ATM of BPI Family Savings Bank located along MacArthur Highway in the same barangay.
