De Lima reveals affair with ex-driver Dayan

SENATOR Leila de Lima has finally admitted having had romantic affair with her former driver and bodyguard Ronnie Dayan.

The admission was made by De Lima herself in an exclusive interview with Winnie Monsod on "Bawal ang Pasaway kay Mareng Winnie" Monday evening, November 14, on GMA News TV.

De Lima said she fell for Dayan due to the "frailties of a woman."

The senator said the relationship lasted for "a few years," when she was still secretary of the Department of Justice and that they broke up before she ran for senator.

"We became so close because I trusted him. Siyempre, naano po ang loob ko," she said.

De Lima maintained though that Dayan was separated from his wife before they got together.

"He was separated...long separated," she said.

To recall, the relationship was made public after President Rodrigo Duterte accused the senator of having an "illicit affair" with Dayan, whom he said had received drug money for De Lima’s 2016 senatorial campaign.

When asked about her alleged involvement on drugs, the senator maintained that she has not received any drug-related money from anyone.

"Siguro po ako, sa sarili ko, 100 percent na wala akong tinatanggap at wala akong papayagan na maging bag man ko [kahit] sino man siya." (Sunnex)
