DepEd table tennis fires off Jan. 30

THE second DepEd Davao City Table Tennis Tournament is set on January 30-31 at the DES Table Tennis Center, Vinzons St., Barrio Obrero, an official said Wednesday.

Metro Davao Table Tennis Association (Medatta) spokesperson Friendee Nuñez said the two-day event, which is sponsored by Davao City Councilor and Davao City Sports Council Inc. president Peter T. Laviña, features the Department of Education (DepEd) Davao men and women singles and Davao City players men's and women's singles categories.

"Players will play the round robin format in the elimination round where the top two qualifiers will advance to the knockout format round," he said.

Category champions will each receive P1,500 while the runners-up will get P1,000 and third placers will go home with P750 apiece.

Varsity players from the Holy Cross of Davao College, University of Mindanao and Jose Maria College are highly touted to rule the open events. (MLSA)
