Dole sets Job Start program for OSYs

THE regional office of the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) is implementing a program to assist the out-of-school youths (OSYs) find stable job.

Dole Regional Director Sisinio Cano said the pilot areas of the program, known as the Job Start Program, in Zamboanga Peninsula are Dipolog, Pagadian and Zamboanga.

Cano said the program will include a month-long training, life skills competency, apprenticeship and employment.

Dole will finance the conduct of the technical training while the partner private sector will pay the wage of the beneficiary-OSYs during the apprenticeship period, Cano added.

He said the program will be immediately implemented in the region once they will receive the implementing guidelines from Dole central office.

The Job Start program is already being implemented in Davao, Cebu and Manila and is now expanded to Zamboanga Peninsula. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
