Double registrants found in Ifugao

LAGAWE, Ifugao -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) here said Ifugao has recorded several double registered voters for the 2010 polls.

Lawyer Jerome Bantiyan of Comelec-Ifugao said the number of double registrants was discovered recently through the lists furnished by their Central Office.

The lists stated that 1,134 double registered voters were found in the different municipalities of Ifugao, including the provinces of Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela and Quirino.

Among the 11 municipalities of the province, Tinoc has the highest number of double registered voters with 202; Hingyon, 148; Asipulo, 117; Alfonso Lista, 107; Lagawe, 102; Hungduan, 90; Aguinaldo, 89; Lamut, 87; Kiangan, 80 Banaue, 72 and Mayoyao, 40.

Bantiyan noted that some voters were registered in two voting places at the same day as reflected in the dates of their registration. (Mhars B. Lihgawon)
