TO PROPERLY dispose and store official documents, Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte has officially created a City Archives and Records Center (CARC).

According to Executive Order (EO) No. 30 signed by Duterte on September 23, the CARC will store vital records such as adoption of security measures, among others.

The CARC is headed by a records officer, and archivist or an employee designated by the city mayor.

The CARC will be assisted by the by the Records Management Improvement Committee (RMIC) that is composed of city administrator as the chair and four other members.

The creation of the CARC is pursuant to Republic Act No. 9470 or the National Archives of the Philippines Act of 2007.

The RA 9470 provides that "All government offices shall each establish their archives and records office/unit in coordination with the DBM and the National Archives from their organic personnel within a year from the affectivity of this Act".

In Davao City, the urgent creation of the CARC stemmed from the "clamor" of different city offices and departments for proper disposition of documents given the overflowing volume and lack of sufficient storage space.
