A FORMER barangay councilor of Poblacion 3, Carcar City, Cebu, was killed when he tried to shoot operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas in an anti-illegal drugs operation Monday, February 13.

PDEA Director Yogi Ruiz told SunStar Cebu that former barangay councilman Elmer Padin may have been the one supplying illegal drugs to Jonathan Marfe, the suspected rapist of a four-month-old baby in Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City.

Padin tried to shoot the agent who transacted with him around 3:30 p.m. Monday, prompting operatives to fire at him first.

The PDEA recovered 200 grams of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) from Padin's possession. The illegal drugs had an estimated value of P2.3 million.

Also recovered were a caliber .45 and a KG-9 submachine gun. (JOB/SunStar Cebu)
