AN ex-convict from the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City was killed last Thursday evening in Sitio Plaza, Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

Maverick Capuyan, 26, was shot at the back of his head twice by a certain “Ronel.”

Capuyan and Ronel reportedly played hantak, an illegal numbers game, past 7 p.m.

“The victim went home first and was followed by three men. The gunman was just behind him while his two other friends were behind the gunman,” said SPO1 Winston Ybañez, homicide investigator.

Capuyan, who served jail time for robbery and was released last 2015, was on his way home with Ronel and two other friends when he was attacked.

Ybañez said that the victim’s friends are being considered persons of interest as they were in the area but didn’t tried to stop the gunman.

“The victim wasn’t aware (that he wil be shot) because he was really close with the gunman. They were friends,” he said.

Ybañez said they are looking into personal grudge as the possible motive behind the victim’s death.

Recovered from the scene were three empty shells of caliber .45 pistol. (JOB)
