Farm caretaker found dead

John Paul Villanueva

A FARM caretaker, who is allegedly mentally-ill, was found dead inside a hut in Sitio Salawangan, Barangay Payawan in Candoni, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday, November 2.

Police identified the fatality as Floriano Mendoza, 43, who had worked at the farm owned by Eleuterio Arbolado for several years now.

Inspector Jaynick Bermudez, chief of Candoni Municipal Police Station, said Mendoza had multiple stab wounds and head injuries when found by the farm owner at about 7 a.m.

Initial investigation showed that Mendoza was drinking liquor inside the hut when an unidentified man probably came in and stabbed him due to his loud voice when he got drunk.

Investigation is ongoing.
