Farmer’s killing still probed

POLICE are conducting thorough investigation on the death of a 76-year-old farmer who was found hanging on a tree in Labason, Zamboanga del Norte province.

The Zamboanga Peninsula Police Office (ZPPO) reported that the farmer, Guadalope Espina, was found dead by his son on Friday after he left home to continue the construction of copra drier at his farm.

The ZPPO said the investigation is focused on whether the victim was killed or have committed suicide.

The police learned from Salvador, the victim's son, that he found his father hanging from a tree with rope tied around his neck.

However, the victim's body was already on the ground when the policemen from Labason arrived for an on-site investigation.

The victim's body bore rope markings in the wrist and neck, the ZPPO said. (Bong Garcia)
