Galendez bags 1st title in 2016

BACK-to-back SM Bowling Millionaire's Cup champion Tessa Dianne Galendez struck for another Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba) title to open her 2016 campaign with a bang.

The 21-year-old Chinabank teller, who had an 11 handicap, hit a total of 872 pinfalls in three games to emerge champion in the Datba weekly singles tournament.

Galendez bested her father Art who rolled 826 pins while FernieBallano made 825 pinfalls to place third. The top three placers went home with P800, P500 and P400, respectively.

The champion posted on her Facebook with attached photos of the tally board, "What a good way to start the year. Yay thank you Lord!"

A total of 19 pintopplers competed in the weekly qualifying tournament for the monthly finals that offers bigger cash prizes and customized trophies to the winners.

She hoped to win more titles this year. Galendez will next compete in the Datba Bowler of the Year grand finals where she eyes to put up a strong finish.

"Plan namo ni Papa practice mi everyday maski three games each day ra. Tanan man posible mudaug Ma'am. Hehehe, maayo man pud silang tanan so akoa jud diri kay himuon lang jud nako akong best (My father and I plan to practice at least three games each day. Everybody else has the chance to win. All I have to do is give my best)."
