Hostage taker's remains brought to funeral homes (8:13 a.m.)

MANILA -- The body of a dismissed police officer who hijacked a tourist bus and took hostage 25 passengers on Monday was already brought to a funeral home.

Television reports said the son of Senior Police Inspector Rolando Mendoza arrived at Camp Crame Crime Laboratory around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday to get the remains of his father.

The son, Police Inspector Mark Mendoza, earlier went to the crime laboratory to check on his father's body. He left past 2 a.m. Tuesday but returned around 6 a.m. to get the hostage-taker's remains.

The body of the older Mendoza, who was killed following an assault launched by police on Monday, is now at St. Peter's Funeral Homes in Quezon Avenue, Manila. (Sunnex)
