Islamic faith highlighted through exhibit

IN TIME with the observation of Ramadan, the Department of Tourism in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) opened an exhibit on June 5, showcasing the importance of this holy month to muslims.

The exhibit which will run until June 26 is open for public viewing to promote better understanding of Islamic faith and culture.

On display are photos of peaceful masjids that is a major reflection of Islamic identity.

"Through these architecture, by giving our visitors a peek at these religious and architectural wonders, we also allow them to have a better understanding of the Armm. We intend to make tourism a vehicle that will take us to the road to tolerance, harmony, understanding and lasting peace," DOT-Armm Regional Secretary Ayesha Dilangalen said in a statement.

The exhibit also features a display of brasswares and other cultural icons from different parts of the region.

The event was also graced by assistant secretary Shalimar Candao, Bureau of Cultural Heritage director Maritess Maguindra, along with guests, government employees, students and print and social media.
